Although even the Kelsey Racing crew and driver were getting ready to race in one of the two last chance races due to a wreck fighting for the second position in the heat race, the team was informed by track officials that the 0K was in the feature event.

After the damage to the # 0K in the heat race, driver Bill Kelsey was able to limp around one extra lap and pull off track on the white flag lap. Due to several other cars that were a lap down or left the race earlier, Bill was able to score the 4th place finish and advance to the IMCA Stock Car feature event.

The feature event had several exciting moments for Bill and that was missing several wrecks that were close calls getting the # 0K involved.

Still fighting a "Miss" in the motor, Bill was fighting the car due to it’s lack of power in the corners but was able to bring home a 12th place finish. More seat time for Bill is great! This also helped maintain the number 13th position in points at Seymour Speedway, being only 77 points out of the lead held currently by the #55 Shawn Wagner.

From what I can tell, Bill is also currently the Highest Placing Rookie in the IMCA Stock Car division by season points standings.

Doing our weekly work last night on the race car also discovered more bent parts that we missed while fixing the car in the pits Sunday night. All is fixed and we also hope to have the miss in the motor fixed as well.

The switch to IMCA stock car was a rapid process with only 3 days to "finish" the newly purchased race car. Hang a new body, put in a drive train, paint the car and get the vinyl lettering on it.

Bill drove the car for the first time down a driveway and discovered a problem shortly after. A big hole in the starter.

With no time to fix it at the race shop, it was off to the race track with extra parts and the fix would need to take place at the track.

With repairs done, the New Number 0k was in the first heat starting in the 6th starting spot, but the car never made it to the track! Starter problems prevented Bill from the heat race which would force the 0k to run the "last chance" race to make the feature event.

With the 3rd starter in the car, it was fixed for good this time and Bill would roll out 16th and would need to place 4th or better to make the IMCA feature event. This was a Huge Task since these would be the first laps Bill raced in the IMCA Stock Car.

From the green flag, Bill was on a mad dash to the front like he’s been driving this kind of car for years. As the checkered flew, Bill placed 5th but the #41 did not scale after the race and Bill did. The #41 was disqualified and putting the 0k into it’s first IMCA feature race in it’s first try!

Starting dead last in the feature was OK will all the Kelsey Racing Team because it was a huge challenge to even get the car on the track with all the starter issues and to top it off, the first time on the track with the new race car in a totally new divison.

The car and driver were very strong in the feature and moving forward but the car lost a little power in the final laps due to overheating and overheated tires (getting use to the new car). 20 cars started the feature event and the 0k crossed the line 15th.

A 15th place finish was like a win to all the Kelsey Racing Team. Making the feature on the very first night out with the car was great!

Next race is Mother’s Day. Sunday May, 10th starting at 6 PM sharp at Seymour Speedway.
