Although even the Kelsey Racing crew and driver were getting ready to race in one of the two last chance races due to a wreck fighting for the second position in the heat race, the team was informed by track officials that the 0K was in the feature event.

After the damage to the # 0K in the heat race, driver Bill Kelsey was able to limp around one extra lap and pull off track on the white flag lap. Due to several other cars that were a lap down or left the race earlier, Bill was able to score the 4th place finish and advance to the IMCA Stock Car feature event.

The feature event had several exciting moments for Bill and that was missing several wrecks that were close calls getting the # 0K involved.

Still fighting a "Miss" in the motor, Bill was fighting the car due to it’s lack of power in the corners but was able to bring home a 12th place finish. More seat time for Bill is great! This also helped maintain the number 13th position in points at Seymour Speedway, being only 77 points out of the lead held currently by the #55 Shawn Wagner.

From what I can tell, Bill is also currently the Highest Placing Rookie in the IMCA Stock Car division by season points standings.

Doing our weekly work last night on the race car also discovered more bent parts that we missed while fixing the car in the pits Sunday night. All is fixed and we also hope to have the miss in the motor fixed as well.

May 24th brought the second career heat race win for Bill Kelsey and the Kelsey Racing # 0k IMCA stock car driver.

More seat time in another feature event was like another win for Bill and the whole team.

Bill Kelsey IMCA Stock Car Driver

May 31st brought the Kelsey Racing team back to earth. Several strong runs in both the heat race with a 5th place finish, which was 1 spot away from making the feature. Bill was passed by the # 27 machine right at the checkered flag. A miss in the motor didn’t help as the car lacked some power near the end of the race and No Brakes didn’t help either due to a broken left rear brake line. The last chance race was up next, but for the first time in 2009 the # 0k was on the trailer when the IMCA Stock Car feature event took place.

The next race is June 7, 2009 at Seymour Speedway starting at 6pm sharp. Be sure to check the weather or SeymourSuperSpeedway.com for latest updates.

A chilly but nice night for Mother’s Day racing welcomed everybody to the Seymour Speedway for the 2nd race of the season at the Seymour Speedway in Seymour, Wisconsin.

Bill would start the night off in the IMCA Stock Car division that was the 4th division to race for the night. Bill was in heat #1 in the 4th position (outside row #2).

With in 3 laps, Bill and the 0k were in the lead! This was very exciting to all the crew and I’m sure Bill as well inside of the car. Not only was this the first time leading in the IMCA class, the heat race was stacked with many top drivers in the division.

From lap 3 until the checkered flag lap 8, Bill held onto the top spot and took his first checked flag in the IMCA Stock Car class.

Although the car had a "miss" down the backstretch, a quick check after the race in the pits under the hood would show that a spark plug wire was burned. This would mean not only did Bill take home the checkered flag, it was done on 7 cylinders.

The feature event was the next thing in line for the newly number IMCA Stock Car 0k of Bill Kelsey. This was also the 2nd feature event in 2 races for the Kelsey Racing Team, which is something we are excited and proud of.

Starting on the inside of row #3, would be a great starting spot and give Bill some HOT seat time in heavy action. Bill held his own from the start but faided a little by the first caution flag and restarted at that point from the 8th position.

Again, holding that spot and after a couple more green flag laps, Bill drove into turns 3 & 4 but got a bumper to the left rear and went spinning. Since Bill was near the front of the 20 car field, at least a couple cars made heavy impact to the rear of the 0k machine.

Bill would make it to pit lane and stay on the lead lap, but with a heavy damaged car. The rest of the night was used to pick up some more seat time, while also still able to pass a few more cars in the process.

All in all, a GREAT night for Kelsey Racing, with our first checked flag in the bag and a second streight feature appearance in a row.

The next race is next Sunday, May, 17 with a start time of 6 PM sharp.

Thank you again to all of our great fans and sponsors!

The switch to IMCA stock car was a rapid process with only 3 days to "finish" the newly purchased race car. Hang a new body, put in a drive train, paint the car and get the vinyl lettering on it.

Bill drove the car for the first time down a driveway and discovered a problem shortly after. A big hole in the starter.

With no time to fix it at the race shop, it was off to the race track with extra parts and the fix would need to take place at the track.

With repairs done, the New Number 0k was in the first heat starting in the 6th starting spot, but the car never made it to the track! Starter problems prevented Bill from the heat race which would force the 0k to run the "last chance" race to make the feature event.

With the 3rd starter in the car, it was fixed for good this time and Bill would roll out 16th and would need to place 4th or better to make the IMCA feature event. This was a Huge Task since these would be the first laps Bill raced in the IMCA Stock Car.

From the green flag, Bill was on a mad dash to the front like he’s been driving this kind of car for years. As the checkered flew, Bill placed 5th but the #41 did not scale after the race and Bill did. The #41 was disqualified and putting the 0k into it’s first IMCA feature race in it’s first try!

Starting dead last in the feature was OK will all the Kelsey Racing Team because it was a huge challenge to even get the car on the track with all the starter issues and to top it off, the first time on the track with the new race car in a totally new divison.

The car and driver were very strong in the feature and moving forward but the car lost a little power in the final laps due to overheating and overheated tires (getting use to the new car). 20 cars started the feature event and the 0k crossed the line 15th.

A 15th place finish was like a win to all the Kelsey Racing Team. Making the feature on the very first night out with the car was great!

Next race is Mother’s Day. Sunday May, 10th starting at 6 PM sharp at Seymour Speedway.

It was a Hot night and in more ways then one.

Kelsey Coatings night welcomed race fans and a full field of cars. After a strong 4th place finish in the heat race, would set up the # 65 machine a nice starting spot in the feature race.

Starting 7th in the feature, Bill made quick work with a fast and great handeling car and was moving through the field until the 97 car applied the bumper and spun the 65. The caution flew and Bill would get his spot back. The 97 was placed in the back for causing the yellow.

Going back green, Bill was marching forward and was up to 3rd. A couple laps later, the 65 Kelsey machine peeked into the lead for a brief moment as the caution flew again.

This put the 65 car in 2nd for the restart. Another fight for the lead continued between the 99x, 22e, the 86 and the 65k. After the 22e spun and another restart Bill dove into turn 3 and 4 and the car didn’t settle very well on the black slick track and Bill lost the handle while in 2nd and spun.

It was a great run and the race went to a Green, White Checkered and the 65 machine crossed the line deeper in the field and the finish didn’t show the strong run we had. Stil a great run and we are looking forward to next week!

It was a tough night for the Kelsey Racing Team.

Starting 5th in the heat race, a car would spin out right infront of Bill with no place to go but into the other car. The result was a bent spindle and the #65 maching limping 5th place finish.

Starting 7th in the feature and a fixed race car brought light at the end of the tunnel. That is until lap 2 of the race when the # 25 machine rode on top of the back tire which sent the # 65 car of Bill into his good buddy # 51. The 51 machine jumped the front tire which in return snapped the tirod. With the passenger side tire out of control and flopping around the night ended early for the Kelsey Racing Team.

Next week will be sponsored by Kelsey Coatings after the rainout last week. We hope to see you all out at the races which start at 6pm sharp. The cars sponsored by Kelsey Coatings will be on display behind the grandstands and Bill hopes to pick up his first checkered flag as well.

We were all at the track but the skies got dark fast and the rain came a short time later. It started raining around 5 pm and they called the races by 5:30 before they even started.

Kelsey Coatings night will be moved to next week Aug 10th. Races start at 6pm sharp and we hope to see you their.

A very eventful night for the Kelsey Racing Team this week!

Fighting for the lead in the heat race, Bill was riding the rim of the track ready to go for the lead when a load POP came from the car. At first it sounded like a tire blew, but Bill passed by the crew in a silent car. At first, the crew had thought the motor expired but after deeper looking the distribuitor had expired.

With a spare distribuitor on hand, a quick change brought life back to the motor! This would force the #65 machine to run a last chance qualifier to make the feature event. Starting 10th, Bill wasted no time and was the "meat in the sandwhich" going 4 wide for a full lap. This sent Bill into 5 place at the time and by the time the 11 laps were complete, a 3rd place finish would send the car to the feature event.

A good deal of damage was done to the car in the last race and the feature event brought even more damage. Starting near dead last (19th) Bill would take his time and work all the to 8th by the time the checked flew!

It was a hard battle to fight to 8th, but Bill drove smart and had several great saves during all 3 races.

We hope to see you out at the races on July 20th at 6PM sharp. Kid’s, bring your Big Wheels, for the Big Wheel Races during half time! There is also a bike give away. Stop by in the pits after the race to say Hi and have an ice cold drink as well.

After a 4th place finish in the heat race would set up the #65 machine to start in the 8th starting spot in the feature.

After picking up a couple spots, the car started to fade after a large flash came out the pipes and the motor was down on power. Bill was able to manage a top 15 finish and the motor held together.

We think a spark plug or either a valve let go. Expect the #65 machine to be full song next week at the Seymour Speedway on July 13, 2008 at 6 PM sharp!

A nice night welcomed the Kelsey Racing Team to the Seymour raceway! A tacky track with all the wet weather and coming off a strong second place finish last week, the team was excited to hit the track.

After a 6th place finish in the heat race, the 65 machine would start 18th in the feature.

On lap one, corner #2 would end the night for Bill. The #8 machine of T.J. White which started on the poll did not come up to speed on the green flag lap. The #17 turned hard left to miss the 8 car, the 22 took a hard left to miss the 17 and the rest of the field paid for it! With the #65 Kelsey Racing Machine getting the short end of the deal with massive damage!

The whole rear end was ripped out of the car just hanging by the twisted lone right rear control arm. All other control arms,  shocks/springs, drive shaft etc where ripped out. The rear end damage was not the only damage either. The whole rear bumper cover was ripped off. The left front fender, door and side panels were smashed in. The front left upper control arm, spindle and tierod end all smashed. Another rim and tire will not see another race as well.

This week was not only a big hit in the points, but also to the pocket book. I will be out at the race shop tonight and I will try and take some pictures of the car to post.
