Bill Kelsey 2010 IMCA Stock Car of KelseyRacing.com
2006 began with a new look and brand new chassis for the opener at Seymour Speedway. For the first few weeks of the season the team made some setup changes to the new car and with a second place finish at Luxemburg, it looked as if we put together a great combination for our third year of racing. We continued with our motor builder L&E machine this year and the motor was producing enough power to keep us in the front of the pack. By mid season we were a strong top five at both tracks. Luxemburg, the team was 3rd in points, a huge improvement over last years 14th in points. This year it appeared we had luck on our side with half the season over and the # 65 Kelsey Racing Team was third place at Luxemburg and Seymour Speedway and track championships within reach every week.
On Kelsey Coatings sponsor night the car was a rocket and memories of last year were fresh in the minds of the team (Lead almost the whole race, and the motor blew up). We started 12th in the heat and by lap 4 we were in first place on the way to win our heat race and the car gave a little shake and the motor decided it had enough and blew again this year! This would make for a long night for the team. The car made it off the track coasting into the pits and we began to load up our equipment thinking our night was over but we had an ace in the whole and the 51 team sent us on the road to pick up his backup car. We drove back into Green Bay and picked up the Wiitala # 51 car and made it back just in time to change some tires and race the feature taking 12th place and holding onto our 3rd place in points. That would be the only motor that we would blow this year and great thanks to L&E Machine for putting together some fast and tough motors for us.
With a new chassis to learn and a few tough places the Kelsey Racing team placed 3rd in Luxemburg out of 46 cars on an average night and placed 3rd at Seymour out of 42 car field on average. This was a year of great improvements for the entire team from the top down. The driver gained more seat time and experience and the crew gained a better understanding for setup and learned how to make adjustments to our Wolfe Chassis.
What is new for 2007. Well at this time the team is gutting out a new car for next year. Our Wolfe Chassis will have new sheet metal and a new exterior look for next year. We have L&E machine building us a new motor to propel us to the front. The team has very high expectations for the 2007 season and would like to invite you all on the trip. The team is looking for continued support for next year’s car and would like to invite you to again support our racing team.
Kelsey Racing encourages that you ask us to support any of your company causes as well. We enjoy advertising for you and we make every opportunity possible to get your names recognized on a weekly basis. Kelsey Racing will continue to showcase the car at all the car shows and any other special events. If you, as a sponsor would like to have the car at your place of business for a day please contact one of the members of the team and we will arrange for the car to be present. The team has not forgotten about any of our steady sponsors. We will continue to represent all of you on the car through our new design. I know that you all will be very pleased with the new look for 2007 and you will all gain even more exposure through the design.
I would like to again ask you all for your continued support next year. With 11 heat wins this year, placing 3rd in points at both tracks raced, and many top ten finishes the team predicts even more exposure for our sponsors in 2007. Please call Bill at 920-676-4737 or Email or talk to any of the Kelsey Racing Team members if you are interesting in continuing to support Kelsey Racing! If you know any other businesses that would like to join our racing team through sponsoring the car please have them call us, we would love to talk with them.
Without all your help the team would not be able to compete at this level. Next year we are shooting for track championships and many feature wins! Please join us on our ride to the top.
2008 brought a strong year with a 5th place finish in the Street Stock class. This was the final year Bill raced in the Street Stock class. 2009 Bill will race in the Action Filled, tight pack racing in the higher class IMCA Stock Cars.
Thank you for all your support,
Bill Kelsey
